Technical Courses
Advanced Nitrox - see Accelerated Decompression Procedures
Advanced Nitrox is a pre-requisite for starting the Sports Mixed Gas course - it will eventually be replaced by Accelerated Decompression Procedures. Entry level is Sports Diver or equivalent. Advanced Nitrox will be phased out during 2010.
Accelerated Decompression Procedures Diver
This new course will be available from late January. Although taking the place of the older Advanced Nitrox course, the skills and procedures are quite different. Using specially prepared tables, the course will concentrate on the use of 50% and 70% nitrox mixes to shorten in water decompression and include the practical skills and theory needed to carry this out safely. ADPD has a depth range of 40 metres and the minimum requirement is Sports Diver with Gold standard buoyancy or equivalent.ADP Workshop for Advanced Nitrox Divers
There is a workshop we can run for divers who have already qualified as Advanced Nitrox divers and who wish to upgrade to the new ADP qualification. Enhances what you have already learned and this course is far more relevant to the type of diving being undertaken by sports divers today!Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) Air Diluent
Using the APD Inspiration or Evolution CCR, this course covers all the theory, sheltered water exercises, practical workshops and dives needed to start diving this unit safely. You should allow 6 days for this course to cover all the elements. Minimum level of Advanced Nitrox is needed and an open mind! Staring to dive a rebreather is almost like starting again. After the course we recommend a regime of build up dives to enhance and embed the new skills learned on the course.
In return for your hard work, you gain extended dive times, less decompression, silent bubble free diving, getting closer to marine life and the positive effects of breathing a warm, moist gas. Cost
Sports Mixed Gas - Open Circuit or Closed Circuit Rebreather
This course teaches the skills and theory needed to increase your safety in the 40 to 50 metre range with the use of normoxic trimix. Gas mixtures with an oxygen content between 20% and 23% are described as normoxic. Anyone currently diving in the 40 to 50 metre range on air should consider this course because of the enhanced safety and lower narcosis levels. The course can be extended by a further day to gain the Explorer Mixed Gas certificate, enabling diving to 60 metres.
Explorer Mixed Gas Diver - Open Circuit or Closed Circuit Rebreather
This course can be done in place of, or as a 1 day extension to the Sports Mixed Gas and gives you the knowledge and skills to use normoxic trimix to 60 metres. The main difference is in the amount of gas / bailout needed for the deeper diving and two sidemounts of minimum 7 litres are recommended.Diver at 60 metres on wreck of UB65 - The Haunted U-Boat
If you want to dive with more safety in the 40 to 60 metre range then Trimix will add safety to your dive. The Sports Mixed Gas course teaches the use of Normoxic mixes and depending on the level of training you select, has a maximum depth for the qualification of either 50 metres or 60 metres.
Advanced Mixed Gas
This course takes around 6 days to complete and qualifies the diver to 80 metres using hypoxic gas mixes. The course is available to both closed circuit and open circuit divers.
